Dear LoMA Families:

I hope you all are staying safe and strong in these trying times as we navigate the 2020-2021 school year. Unfortunately, it has not been an easy time for many of us especially the children and especially the new incoming freshman I’m sure. We must now learn to communicate in such an impersonal way which for me as a parent at LoMA for the last 5 years has been hard.

Let me introduce myself, my name is Amanda Rios. I have been an involved PA (Parents Association) parent for the last 5 years and have been on the PA Board throughout all 5 years. I have a graduate of LoMA 2018 and my youngest is now a 10th grader at LoMA. In these past 5 years there have been many changes and I lived through them all with this year now being one of the most challenging, but as parents we have always come together every time to advocate for the children.

This school year comes with a whole new set of challenges. We need to come together and help our children and be their voices. Therefore, we need you to join us and get involved on the PA Board. You can be involved as a direct member or just come and voice your thoughts and concerns at any of our PA meetings which are open to all parents/guardians. It’s understood that we have full lives and it gets hard to attend meetings, however, all we need is about an hour of your commitment once a month. Since the PA meetings, like everything else, will be virtual we are hoping it’ll be easier for parents/guardians to attend. We need you so we can keep LoMA strong and family oriented and most importantly to keep our children engaged!

It is highly encouraged that you attend this meeting if you are interested in being a part of the PA Board or if you’d like to be a part of the conversation. Bring all your questions/concerns to the meeting.
